MICHIKO TSUZUKU, Contrabass
A Tokyo (Japan) native, Michiko Tsuzuku began studying piano and solfe`ge at the young age of three. Upon completion of her piano and voice studies at the Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music, she entered the Toho Gakuen College Music Department as a Contrabass major, where she also studied conducting, chamber music and collaborative piano. Ms. Tsuzuku has participated in some of the most prestigious international music festivals including the Johannesen International School of the Arts in Victoria, British Columbia (Canada), the Rencontres Musicales d’Evian (France), and in 1992, as a fellowship student at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox, Massachusetts (United States). In 1994, Ms. Tuszuku was selected as a member of the Japanese Government Overseas Program which sent her to the United States for further study of the contrabass.
Ms. Tuszuku maintains a very active performance schedule. She has appeared with many renowned ensembles including ALEA III (contemporary music ensemble based in Boston), the Saito Kinen Orchestra (under Seiji Ozawa), the Izumigo Festival Orchestra (under Takayoshi Wanami), the Royal Chamber Orchestra (under Shunsaku Tsutsumi), the Deutsche Bachsolisten (under Helmut Winschermann), the Opera Theater Konnyakuza (under Hikaru Hayashi) and the Tokyo Opera Nomori (under Seiji Ozawa), among others.
As a chamber musician, Ms. Tsuzuku has collaborated with numerous musicians such as Claude Frank, Gary Karr, Michio Kobayashi, Tomoko and Takashi Shirao, Mineko Tsuchiya, Takayoshi Wanami and Kenichiro Yasuda String Quartet. As a soloist, she has appeared with many orchestras performing the concertos of Koussevitzky, Bottesini and Glie`re. In addition she has performed in both the Kawai Music Shop Aoyama and the Kodaira Cultural Hall Concert Series.
Ms. Tuszuku holds a Masters Degree in Contrabass performance from Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts (United States). She is a member of the Phi Kappa Lambda Honor Society for musicians. Her principal bass teachers include Shunsaku Tsutsumi, Mitsuru Onozaki, Naofumi Nishida, Gary Karr and Edwin Barker. Ms. Tuszuku’s article on contrabass playing has been published in the “Band Journal” by ONGAKU NO TOMO SHA CORP.. Currently she is on the faculty at the Kunitachi College of Music Senior High School and the Toho Gakuen College of Drama and Music.

SATOSHI INAGAKl, Piano
Satoshi Inagaki was born in Kyoto, Japan. He graduated from the Toho Gakuen College Music Department and completed Conservatoire National Supe´rieur de Musique de Lyon en cycle de perfectionnement. He enjoys various performance opportunities as a solo pianist, as a chamber musician and as a recording collaborator both nationally and internationally. He has been selected for top prizes in numerous competitions including the Competition for Contemporary Music Players (1991), Takarazuka Vega Music Competition (1992). In 2003, Mr. Inagaki was awarded with the Shiga Prefecture Cultural Encouragement Prize.
Mr. Inagaki is an active member of the Ensemble Nomad and has premiered numerous contemporary works. His clear and brilliant tone quality receives high acclaim. He has been invited to participate in many concerts in Hungary (the Hungarian National Radio), Seoul, Paris, Belgium and Italy. His primary teachers include Pierre Pontier, Midori Miura and Kumiko Tomimasu. Mr. Inagaki is the associate professor of Soai University Faculty of Music.

TAKASHI OCHI, Mandola
Takashi Ochi (1934) is one of the best known mandolin players. His virtuosity is well documented in lots of recordings together with famous musicians like Siegfried Behrend and Narciso Yepes.
In this recording he plays the mandola together with three of his students.
